The Transformation of Teaching and Learning

Do you remember the first time you learned something as a kid? Curiosity made you crave wisdom. When you acquired new information, you would smile or clap or even jump up and down with excitement. Then you got older and the "process of school" snatched your love of learning away like the Chiefs did the 49er's in the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl.
The time is now to "redo-school". We have a golden opportunity to integrate our natural curiosity with the ability to learn anytime and anyplace. Just imagine if we allowed students to explore learning on their own and refer to the teacher when they needed help? Just think how much students would learn if we opened up the playbook.
The same goes for adult learners. What if teacher professional development time was used to find out their curiosities and integrated them into the curriculum? What if teachers could collaborate with companies and shared the knowledge base with students? What if students and teachers had "real-world" projects that actually was a part of the real-world?
Now is the time! With millions of students and teachers forced to take their teaching and learning Online, we have a golden opportunity to change schools from 20th Century brick and mortar assembly lines to 21st Century creative, critical thinking, and collaborative spaces that will allow students and teachers to thirst again for the second time in their lives, the love of learning.
